Abstract

Literature is part of a culture that grows and develops in society. Literary works that are created in the midst of society, will reflect the pattern of behavior and mindset of the community. This can be seen in Sesenggak Sasak which reflects the identity of the Sasak tribe. Sesenggak Sasak has a very valuable function in the life of the Sasak people. Sesenggak sasak as a regional tradition or culture, is still being used even though it has decreased somewhat. The reduced use of expressions as a means of communication is more due to the diminishing public attention in using them.

The aims of this study were (1) to describe the educational, social and cultural values ​​of Sesenggak Sasak, and (2) to describe the functions of Sesenggak Sasak in the life of the Sasak people. The method used in this research is a qualitative-descriptive method. The data collection method used in this research is literature study and documentation.

Based on the results of research and analysis, it is known that Sesenggak Sasak is a very valuable cultural property that contains various functions, teachings and rules governing the rules of association in the life of the Sasak people, which include: faith and piety, character, personality, work ethic, independence and responsibility education.
